ATHENS, Greece – Unilink Group, the largest insurance distributor in Central and Eastern Europe and part of global fintech Acrisure, has acquired Mega Brokers, the largest retail insurance agent in Greece. Venero Capital Advisors acted as financial advisor to Mega Brokers on the transaction.
Founded in 1989 by Ioannis Chatzitheodosiou, Mega Brokers is a highly successful second-generation family business, today led by CEO Anastasios Chatzitheodosiou. Over more than three decades it has become the clear leader in Greek retail insurance intermediation, supporting a nationwide network of more than 1,500 insurance professionals and over 330,000 clients from its Athens headquarters and branches in several cities.
As a strong and independent market leader, Mega Brokers and its shareholders were very selective about who they would consider joining forces with. Venero supported the family throughout extensive and prolonged discussions and negotiations, achieving a highly successful outcome for the company, its shareholders and the future of the business as a leader in its space.
The transaction combines Unilink's equity acquisition of Mega Brokers with the Chatzitheodosiou family becoming shareholders of Acrisure, Unilink's US-based parent company. Anastasios Chatzitheodosiou continues as CEO of Mega Brokers and has taken on a new regional role as Acrisure's Chief Growth Officer for Central and Eastern Europe, while Ioannis Chatzitheodosiou remains Chairman of the Board.
The deal marks Unilink's entry into Greece, its ninth market alongside Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and Slovenia. Unilink serves 10.3 million clients and works with some 16,500 agents and brokers, and Mega Brokers' partners and clients now gain access to Acrisure's international capabilities, from reinsurance and MGA solutions to the London Market.
